JV Girls Lacrosse v. Lightridge
On Friday, April 1 at Independence High School, the girls junior varsity (JV) lacrosse team hosted Lightridge High School. The team sadly had their first loss of the season, the final score of the game was 8-7.
The seven goals were scored by multiple players. The leading scorer of the game was sophomore Izzy Bach, with four of the seven goals. Sophomore Maddie Centrone had one goal, and sophomore Cailyn Kim had two goals.
Lightridge came on strong, but as the game went on, the Indy girls took the lead and held it until the last five minutes of the game when Lightridge scored, tying up the game. With one minute left in the game, Lighridge scored again, and Indy couldn’t come back.
Though the team lost, the tradition of distributing three awards (GOAT award, offensive award and defensive award) lived on. The GOAT award went to Bach, the offensive award went to Kim and the defensive award went to sophomore Gabby Pritchett.
Bach says, “It was a hard fought game, and even though we lost we came together and worked hard. Losing is never fun, but we can learn from it and win the next game.” The team went on to win their next game against Stone Bridge, the score was 10-2.
