Q: What brought you into teaching?
A: What brought me into teaching is an interesting question because I was not interested in teaching at all when I was your age or in college. Once I graduated college, I started working at Fidelity Investments and I got my series 7 [Exam and license to sell securities products such as stocks, bonds, and ETF’s] and I was trading stocks, mutual funds, etc. But I was so bored of that–I hated sitting at a desk–so I ended up going to see a career advisor and they encouraged me to get into education. So, I went back and got my masters in education and I’ve never looked back since. I’ve been teaching for 17 years and I absolutely love it, it is the most satisfying career for me.
Q: If you weren’t teaching, what would you be doing instead?
A: If I was not teaching I would work very hard to try to become the guitar tech for Bruce Springsteen [favorite artist]
Q: Do you have any other passions besides teaching
A: Oh, absolutely! I am very passionate about following Bruce Springsteen around when he is on tour and I also love to travel wherever to have new experiences and eat new food. I’malso passionate about my dog Brady. I’m also passionate about any Boston sports team as well.
Q: How do you think the students you teach have built you as a person?
A: I think that students have definitely made me resilient every day, they have made me really enjoy life and be positive because I want to be positive for them and enthusiastic for them everyday.
