Angela Alcala is from Ashburn, Virginia, and joined the student news team in 2024. 

She currently is a 16 year old junior at Independence High School and this is her first year working in journalism. Other interests of hers include playing the piano and swimming, as she is also on the Independence Varsity Swimming Team. She said she wants to work in journalism because she wants to learn more about how to edit videos and do behind the scenes stuff and to learn responsibility.

Her favorite subject is math, particularly because she likes to do equations. Angela is focused on pursuing a career in counseling or editing.
