DECA’s annual dodgeball tournament makes a comeback after two years
Independence students and staff participate in the DECA dodgeball tournament to raise money for DECA on Thursday, Nov. 18.
After being on hold since 2019, the annual dodgeball tournament made a return. The DECA club was in charge of Diabetes Awareness Week this year at Independence. The game was hosted to raise money for DECA.
Many students participated in the activities to raise awareness throughout the week. An example of how they raised money for their club was by selling diabetes awareness t-shirts to raise funds, and they passed out lollipops with fun facts about diabetes.
There were a total of 15 teams in the tournament. The final two teams were the Dissertation Destruction and the Sitting Ducks. Mick Demcask, 12, was on the winning team, the Sitting Ducks. He said the win “felt pretty good.” He followed up his team’s win with a backflip to show his excitement and bring an end to Diabetes Awareness Week.
