Caz Yasutis – Stand-up comedy arrives at the Independence talent show
During the three years of Indy Live, the show has seen many different acts. Some of the acts have included singers, dancers, bands, pianists and even a magician. Previously, there had never been a comedian, but that changed this year.
Caz Yasutis, 10, has always loved comedy. Yasutis was a hybrid student last year and because of that, he was able to buy a ticket and see last year’s talent show in person. He loved the show’s acts and the energy the students brought, even though he was just sitting in the audience.
After the show, Yasutis said that he knew he wanted to bring a comedy act to the stage and that he was going to be the one to do it. “It was my calling,” he said. Yasutis wanted to bring something new to the stage that no one had seen before. While Yasutis thought that all the acts were incredibly talented, he wanted to bring more of a variety of acts, including his own. It was a challenge for him not having seen anyone do it before at the school and being the first ever comedian on the auditorium stage, but he said that he “had a duty to the world.”
Yasutis started off the show strongly saying, “I would like to announce that my parents are not in the crowd tonight, and thank God for that.” Through the act he was interactive with those in the audience, saying to those taking Drivers Ed that, “The teacher’s job is to scare you about driving so badly that you never get on the road at all.”
In the end, Yasutis was proud of what he accomplished and thought he did really well. At first Yasutis signed up thinking that, “I was going to do the show and officially be retired, but I think I might be up to do it again next year.” Indy students should keep a look out for Yasutis showing up on the stage next year.
