Indy Relay for Life raises $18,864

On Thursday, March 17, Indy Relay for Life met for the first time to prepare for the annual event to raise money for those affected by cancer. Relay for Life is a program that’s dedicated to fundraising for cancer patients by creating communities all around the globe that specifically work to raise awareness and money, celebrating with a final walk to bring it all together.

Indy’s Relay for life was started by Junior Anna Reed in memory of her dad and grandmother as well as many others who have been affected by cancer. After much planning and groundwork, the club headed to the Village at Leesburg for the walk. Reed recalls, “We were able to have our own stand, and we set up a wheel to raise money.” The event included live music, tents and food.

For their first year, it was a success, and the club was recognized for raising a total of $18,864.
