2024 Indy Film Festival: “The Wendy’s Heist”

2024 Indy Film Festival: The Wendy’s Heist

“The Wendy’s Heist”, directed by Abhiram Bandi (12), was part of the student produced Indy Film Festival of 2024. “The Wendy’s Heist” explores the complex relationship between a man and his chicken nuggets. After being jumped in a Wendy’s parking lot by a masked burglar known as the “Fast Food Menace,” played by Jugaisai Mallipedi (11), Ajay Sai (11), playing himself, is on the hunt for who stole his chicken nuggets. In an attempt to find the criminal, Ajay trains hard in order to figure out the secret.

In the film, the writers incorporate the use of flashbacks in a black and white film in order to give it an ominous, noir vibe. By focusing on the action aspect of the film, they utilized voice overs in order to have more artistic freedom when it came to acting out scenes to the best of their ability.  In addition, making the plot revolve around a chicken nugget helps add a humorous and playful sense making the film lighthearted and enjoyable.

The film was driven by comedy, with humorous scenes while also keeping the suspense of “who done it.” The team did a great job in producing the film, and the winner this year will be a hard decision to make for the judges. Voting is still open so make sure to vote for your favorite Indy film.
